Abstract

Spotted is a conceptual mobile app designed for car enthusiasts to log, share, and discover rare or interesting vehicles. Unlike existing apps, Spotted combines a personal spotting journal with a community-driven database, allowing users to document sightings, track stats, and connect with fellow car spotters.

Design Motivation

As a passionate car enthusiast frustrated by the lack of dedicated apps, I created Spotted to solve a personal pain point. Existing solutions were suboptimal. Generic photo apps lacked car-specific features, while online forums didn't offer systematic logging. This gap inspired me to design an all-in-one platform combining:

• Personal spotting journal with metadata tracking

• Community features for enthusiast interaction

• Crowdsourced car database with rarity ratings

The app addresses core frustrations I experienced: no way to properly catalog sightings, difficulty identifying rare models, and no dedicated community for sharing finds. By designing the app I wished existed, I created a tool that serves both casual spotters and hardcore enthusiasts.
